Tigers sign Dowd & Olsen out of the portal

Steven Pearl signs a pair of former Sun Belt Players out of the Transfer Portal. Both Troy’s Thomas Dowd and South Alabama’s Adam Olsen will take the court in Neville Arena next season. What were once rivals on the court, will now be teammates.

Dowd, a 6’8 forward, spent three seasons with the Trojans. During his time at Troy he helped the Trojans to back to back Sun Belt Tournament Titles, while in turn, led them to two NCAA Tournament bids. During the 2025-26 Sun Belt Tournament, Dowd was selected as the tournament “Most Outstanding Player.”

During his junior season at Troy, Dowd saw the court in 34 and started in all but one of those. Dowd shooting 44.1% from the floor and 33.3% from three in in his junior year.

Coming from one of the Trojan’s conference foes, South Alabama, is Adam Olsen. The 6’8 Canadian spending just one season at South Alabama. During that one season with the Jaguars, Olsen saw the court in 31 games averaging 16.7 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.

“Adam has a what I’d call a super power—he’s one of the best 3-point shooters in all of college basketball. If he sees it, he can make it. At 6-foot-8 with a quick, high release, Adam will consistently get clean looks in an offense that has improved both makes and shooting percentages for our players year after year,” says Steven Pearl.

Olsen also holds the 3-point record at South Alabama, that record set at 102.
