Demopolis DREAM Center fundraising effort underway

A fundraising effort is underway in Demopolis to help bring a new children’s museum to the city.

A Demopolis trio is working to make the Demopolis DREAM Center — a place where children can dream — learn — and grow.

“It is a vision that I’ve had for a long time. And I’m excited to be able to bring it here,” said Dr. Brittney Anderson.

Anderson — along with founding board members Carolyn Moore and Suzanne Young — are spearheading the DREAM Center effort.

“DREAM is actually an acronym. It’s for Discovery, Research, Education, Art and Museum,” said Young.

“This is just something that we need here in rural Alabama.”

Exhibits at the DREAM Center will be STEAM centered — with a focus on Science — Technology — Engineering — the Arts — and Math.

Several exhibits have already been donated to the center — from the Children’s Hands On Museum in Tuscaloosa.

“It gives us the beginning of the infrastructure for the museum,” said Anderson.

A capital campaign to help fund the project is now underway. To donate — text demopolisdream to 53555.

“We need the entire community to help us with this project. Not only will it have an impact on us now, but for generations to come,” said Moore.

The group hopes to have the DREAM Center up and running by early 2028.
