Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church to hold annual event celebrating women
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A historic church in downtown Montgomery is getting ready for its annual celebration of women in the church.
Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church will hold its Women’s Day service on Sunday, September 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary. A reception will follow.
This year’s guest speaker is Rev. Dr. Cheryl Miles-Stevenson. Miles-Stevenson is the associate pastor at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Montgomery.
Dexter’s Women’s Council, established at the request of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The yearly observance celebrates the women of the church and is also an opportunity to raise funds for its support.
