RAIN & STORMS RETURN: Overnight, we are going to see our clouds increase and rain chances will be on the way up as well. Starting the new work week, you are going to near umbrellas as periods of rain will occur through out the day on Monday as an area of low pressure moves across the state. Over the southern half of the state, in the warm sector of the storm, there may be a few strong to possibly severe storms possible, mainly over southwest Alabama and we can see that on the latest convective outlook for Monday below.
For tomorrow we are expecting periods of rain, and we may have a few strong with gusty winds Monday afternoon. At this time, we are not expecting any widespread severe storms, just be aware there could an isolated severe storm possible tomorrow afternoon. Severe weather or not, we should see a soaking rain as an inch of rain will be possible. The heaviest rainfall looks to impact the state during the afternoon hours and heading the overnight hours. We should mild temperatures during the afternoon with mid-60s expected for most of South-Central Alabama. The rain should be moving out of Alabama during the morning hours on Tuesday.
TEMPS ON THE WAY UP: The trough over the East, that is responsible for the bitterly cold temps this weekend, will flatten out, and our flow becomes more zonal, and then a ridge builds in by the end of the week. That means we are in for a warming trend through the week. We also look to stay sunny and dry for the rest of the week as well. Temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 60s, and then those begin to climb into the 70s for Thursday and Friday. For the weekend, a storm system appears to move north of the state, and a weak front may approach the state with a few light showers and maybe come clouds on Saturday. However, this system looks unimpressive and it appears our next significant chance of rain arrives early next week on Sunday or Monday (21st-22nd).
Have a great night and wonderful week!
Ryan
