Alabama Resident Should Take Advantage of Severe Weather Tax Weekend

Severe WeatherAlabama homeowners have good reason to take advantage of the state’s tax holiday on severe weather supplies this week.
State Farm®, Alabama’s largest home insurer, says the state remains one of the most active states for wind and tornado damage. New claims data shows State Farm paid 3,499 wind and tornado claims on structures around the state in 2015 putting the state in 9th place nationally.
The state of Texas led the nation in 2015 with more than 11,000 paid State Farm wind and tornado claims. Neighboring states of Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida also ranked high in paid claim counts.

In addition to stocking up on emergency supplies, State Farm also reminds Alabama homeowners to take a home inventory and make sure your insurance policy is up to date. “There is a real risk of not having enough coverage to replace items you’ve accumulated throughout the years when a review of your policy has not taken place in a while,” says State Farm spokesman Roszell Gadson.
