Autauga Academy Holds Earth Day Event

EARTHDAY PICTUREStudents at Autauga Academy in Prattville had a chance to learn more about energy conservation and how energy is used in everyday life, during an Earth Day event. The event is co-sponsored by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

ADECA’s Energy Division and Central Alabama Electric Cooperative partnered to help students learn about ways to make their homes more energy efficient and to teach them how energy is produced and how it gets to their homes each day.

Students also learned about electricity safety and how line workers place and repair power lines.

“This is awesome, because they have the resources that actual educators we do not have, and the students are actually getting the hands on applications to what they’ve learned in their classrooms during instruction regarding energy ,” Head Master of Autauga Academy, Al Griffin said.

This was first year the event was held.
