Dodgers’ Scherzer faces familiar Mets lineup
UNDATED (AP) — Max Scherzer faces a familiar NL East foe when his Dodgers go for a three-game sweep of the Mets in prime time tonight.
It’ll be Scherzer’s third start with LA since being acquired from the Nationals, and he should be plenty comfortable at Citi Field. The right-hander is 12-5 with a 2.70 ERA in his career against the Mets, although he’s yet to face them this season despite spending most of the year in the same division with Washington.
Carlos Carrasco (0-0, 6.75) is set for his fourth start for New York after missing most of the season with a hamstring injury.
MLB NEWS
Nationals’ Ross to IL with partial elbow ligament tear
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Nationals right-hander Joe Ross has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a partially torn elbow ligament.
Ross will be re-evaluated by the doctor who performed his Tommy John surgery in 2017.
The 28-year-old Ross has been the Nationals’ most consistent starter this season apart from Max Scherzer, who was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the deadline. Manager Dave Martinez said Ross felt tightness in his right forearm after a bullpen session on Saturday and had an MRI that showed a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament.

Lydia Ko closed with a course-record 63 to post 14 under, tying for second with Atthaya Thitikul.
O’Toole began the day tied for the lead at 9 under with Ariya Jutanugarn and Charley Hull. She pulled ahead early and remained in front throughout the back nine.
