The crescent passenger train featured in the film “Fried Green Tomatoes” traveled through Auburn for 45 years.

This will be the first marker to honor The Crescent along its route.

The train stopped carrying passengers through Auburn in 1970. It’s now housed in the Georgia Train Museum in Duluth, Georgia.

During operations, the heavy Pacific engine train made two stops a day in Auburn. It was part of a group of three trains that connected travelers from Washington, D.C., to New Orleans.

The train traveled from Atlanta to Montgomery daily.
