Man Arrested For Raping Elmore County Woman In Her Bathroom

Chase Hughes, a 27- year-old Wetumpka resident, has been arrested for rape.

Sheriff Bill Franklin says a 30 year old woman who used to know the man felt like she had been followed by Hughes. He tried to contact the woman at 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

The victim went home, locked her door, and took a shower. While she was in the bathroom, authorities say Hughes broke in through the back door, entered the bathroom, and sexually assaulted her.

Hughes has been arrested and charged with 1st degree rape.
