Wallace has written five books.
He’s also a professor and lecturer in the English department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
After the book signing, the Capri Theatre showed the 2003 big screen version of the film.

Local fans were excited to meet the man who wrote a book about our area.
“It’s just incredible that we can get somebody who has written about our area, a movie that was filmed in our area, to come down and talk to people again ten years later,” said Montgomery resident Brent Rosen.
“So much of Montgomery’s artistic community, at least the young artistic community, was really born out of the big fish experience,” Rosen continued.
The movie received several Golden Globe nominations, including best picture.
