Father of Man Accused of Killing Children, Leaving Bodies in Alabama, Speaks Out

We’re learning more about the five South Carolina children whose bodies were discovered in Wilcox County. Now officials say their father will be charged with murder.

Investigators say Timothy Jones, Junior led them to the bodies of his five children near the Oak Hill community in Wilcox County. Butler County officials assisted with the search. South Carolina investigators say Jones picked up the children August 28th. Jones, who is divorced from the children’s mother, has custody of the children.

According to the couple’s divorce papers, the two divorced after he discovered his wife was having an affair with a 19-year-old neighbor. They had been married ten years.

Jones, who went to college in Mississippi, worked with computers and made $71,000 a year, according to filings.

At a press conference Wednesday, authorities in Lexington County, South Carolina say they believe Jones killed all five children at once, shortly after they disappeared. They believe the murders happened in South Carolina. Jones allegedly traveled through several states before dumping the bodies in Wilcox County. Butler County officials say receipts from gas stations and a Camden bank show Jones was in the area.

Mississippi officials arrested Timothy Jones last Saturday for DUI and possession of synthetic marijuana. They say they found cleaning supplies, blood and children’s clothes in his vehicle-but no children.

On Wednesday, the father of Timothy Jones, Junior–Timothy Jones, Senior–spoke at a press conference. He said the family is heartbroken. Referring to his son as “Little Tim,” Jones told reporters his son was not the “monster” he would be made out to be.

Jones is awaiting extradition to South Carolina. The coroner in Lexington County says the five children’s bodies are already in the state. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death or the children’s names until an autopsy is performed.
