More Weeks of Roadwork Expected on Three Notch Street

Orange barrels and road closed signs block a section of Three Notch Street in Troy for months.
It’s a main artery into downtown and crews are working to widen it from two lanes to three.
It’s a more than $1 million project paid for mostly through the state’s road program.
But, when crews started digging, engineers say they discovered utilities and storm drains dating back decades.
They’ve had to redesign the construction, so completion is still six to eight weeks away.
Assistant GM Troy Utilities Mike Davis said, “It is a major thoroughfare and I know we’ve shut it down but when it’s opened and we have the additional lane along with the sidewalk for pedestrian traffic, it will enhance Troy and the transportation routes in Troy immensely.”
The city says people who work and live in the area have helped accommodate construction.
Some private landowners have also allowed crews to dig up small pieces of their land for the new storm drainage system.
