Troy-Native Lands Speaking Role In “White Water” Movie

Talesa Harris- it’s not a name you might recognize, but soon she’ll be a face in a movie with some big names.  Â
Â
It’s lights camera action on the set of White Water. The Los Angeles based production company is filming the motion picture set in 1963 segregated Alabama, centered around a young boy with a desire to drink from the white water fountain. Â Â
Â
Director Rusty Cundieff said, “That water somehow looked like it tasted better and he was going to taste some white water no matter what and that’s really the story we’re telling.” Â Â
Â
It’s Michael Bandy’s story, witnessing his childrens book transform into a movie, as not only the co-author but also based on his personal experiences. Â Â
Â
He said, “it’s kind of rags to riches so to speak and not in terms of money but in terms of finding out who we are in life.” Â Â
Â
This set is where Talesa Harris is living out an exciting milestone in her life. “I’ve heard more nos than I have heard yeses,” she said. But a yes came the Troy-native’s way. It started as answering an open casting call then acting as a stand in to help production set lights in place of the stars. Â Â
Â
Rusty said, “She sent me a link to her website and said ok she’s done a little bit of stuff. So when a role came up that we were casting and they were talking about sending in someone from Atlanta and I said no I bet she can do it.” Â Â
Â
Talesa said, “He told me I got it and I was like oh my god. This little bitty girl from Troy, Alabama working behind the scenes, came behind the scenes to the front of the camera I’m so thankful.” Â Â
Â
A small town girl trying to live her dream, landing her a shot on the big screen. “Don’t give up because you are from a small city just go for it. Give it your all and just go for it,” she said. Â Â
Â
White Water films through the middle of next month. Â See the movie and Talesa playing a deaconess in early 2015. Â
