Lady Hornets topple defending SWAC champs Jackson State
JACKSON, Miss. (bamastatesports.com) – Ni’yesha Brown produced a game-high 16 kills, Bayle Bennett added 13 kills and 12 digs and the Alabama State women’s volleyball team topped the defending SWAC Champions Jackson State 3-1 (25-10, 21-25, 25-20, 25-13) to win for the 14th time in their last 15 matches.
The Hornets (15-8 overall, 12-0 SWAC) kept their record in conference play unblemished by regrouping after dropping the second set with just an 0.57 team hitting percentage.
ASU sorted things out by hitting a .303 as a team in the third set and an even better .394 in the fourth set to seal the victory.
Justus Tuiolosega and Kori Kutsch had 22 assists apiece and Briana Dorsey added nine kills and five combined blocks.
Alabama State is an astounding 34-2 in conference play since the 2013 season.
The Lady Hornets will continue their road trip with a visit to Mississippi Valley State tomorrow at 2 p.m.
