A Living Hope: Local Woman with Rare Cancer Gives Birth
Just a week and a half ago, Rhonda Adair was 32 weeks pregnant with her second child when doctors gave her the news no one wants to hear. A mass growing behind her right ear was a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
“I think initially we all cried and we felt crushed. But at the same time we felt God’s presence, literally, holding us up,” said Rhonda.
Then came the decision to induce the baby.
And at 33 weeks, on December first, Rhonda gave birth to her baby girl, Anna Parker Adair.
“Our prayer was that she would weigh 5 lbs and that she would scream. And she was 5.1 ounces and screamed. Really loud.”
Even though Anna Parker has to stay in intensive care for a couple more weeks, she is healthy and doing just fine.
Now, Rhonda faces her own treatment with a PET scan on Monday.
While she still has a long journey ahead, she says she is trusting God and taking it one day at a time.
“It’s so much easier just living today. Because today– this is easy and I can just love on my baby. ”
And she is grateful for the grace and strength she has had to stand.
“I’m just so overwhelmed. All the prayers, I just feel the prayers because I wouldn’t be going through this so calm, so peaceful, had people not been praying for me,” said Rhonda.
