Several Chances for Rain to start the Work Week

It will be much warmer Sunday night compared to Saturday night. Lows will be about 20 degrees warmer- only falling into the lower 50s overnight. Cloud-cover will be increasing tonight, and we will likely have overcast skies by tomorrow morning. A cold front will be approaching the River Region from the Northwest tomorrow. The front will remain to the northwest and essentially stall out for a few days, which will give us multiple chances for rain. During that time, wind direction will generally be out of the south to southwest, allowing gulf moisture to pool across the River Region. Showers will form along the front, and will stream across Alabama from southwest to northeast throughout the day Monday. It looks like most of the rain will be over the northwest, from about I-65 westward and I-85 northward. Showers will become more likely for areas to the south later in the evening.

Rain will stick around for Monday night and Tuesday night as well. Its likely that rain will come in waves, moving from southwest to northeast along the stalled frontal boundary. The areas in the River Region receiving the rain will depend on where exactly the front sets up. By Wednesday afternoon the rain should come to an end as another cold front pushes through from the northwest. This front will bring another cold shot of Arctic Air. Thursday afternoon highs will only be in the upper 40s. We may fall into the 20s again Thursday night. Milder weather and additional chances for rain return for next weekend.
