Bullock Co. Joins Yellow Dot Program

A celebration is held in Union Springs to promote the Yellow Dot Program.

Bullock County is the last county in the state to enter the now statewide program.

How it works? Residents fill out information packets with important information like medications. health conditions and emergency contacts. Then a yellow dot decal is put on the back of your car. If in an accident that alerts first responders that your information packet is in the glove box.

State officials, local mayors and law enforcement were all outside of city hall providing lunch and helping residents sign up for free.

Danny Jackson, Union Springs Police Chief said, “It’ll make our job easier because when we respond to an accident scene we will know that person may be allergic to a certain type of medicine or it’ll help us identify a next of kin.”

Saint T. Thomas, Union Springs Mayor said, “It’s about saving lives and preventing some injuries you didn’t have to have because nobody could identify who you are.”

For anyone who didn’t make it to the event today, you can stop by Midway’s Town Hall, Union Springs City Hall, Bullock County Sheriff’s Office or the Union Springs Police Department to get your yellow dot sticker and packet.
