Superintendent Officially Resigns to Elmore Co. Board of Education

After ten years as superintendent of Elmore County Schools, Dr. Jeff Langham met with the school board to discuss his resignation.
He says its bittersweet, but he is also thankful for this new venture.

“I’m just so excited to have this opportunity to return to the State Department of Education. That’s where I came the superintendancy from at the end of 2004. Just completed my tenth year here. So honored to ride on the coattails of extraordinary people everyday, teachers, administrators, students,” said Langham.

Langham says he will be working with schools across the state in an administrative role.
But he’s not leaving without a recommendation for his replacement.
He told the board his Deputy Superintendent Andre Harrison would be the best person for the job.

“Dr. Harrison has worked by my side every step of the way,and I think he would be an exceptional person to continue our vision for Elmore County Schools,” said Langham.

Harrison has worked with the school district for 22 years in various jobs including, teacher, librarian, assistant superintendent and interim superintendent. He says he wants to re-evaluate the 5 year strategic plan concentrating on specific areas.

“From safe and orderly schools, quality classroom instruction, quality leaders, those are the goals that are my most important to me as a superintendent,” said Harrison.

The board will make the final decision on who will take over as superintendent.
