City Council Meeting to Discuss No Smoking Ordinance Tonight

Montgomery city council members will be discussing the no smoking ordinance at tonight’s city council meeting. Â
Yesterday Montgomery city councilmen listened to public comments about a proposed smoknig ban.Â
Representatives of the American Heart Association, Baptist South, Jackson Hospital and other non-profits told the council about the dangers of second hand smoke. They want the council to ban smoking in all public places, including restaurants and bars.Â
But those who oppose the ordinance, including bar owners who say a no-smoking ordinance will hurt their businesses.Â
Councilmen are expected to meet within the next three weeks to further discuss the ordinance.Â
