DA: Crimes Against Children Taint 2014

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  As the new year quickly approaches — Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson looks back at the year that was — and says he’s noticed a disturbing trend.

Jackson says in 2014 some of the biggest crimes were committed against children.

“Five kids bodies were dumped in Wilcox County. The father had killed the kids…he killed them in South Carolina and then came to Wilcox County and wrapped the bodies in garbage bags and dumped the bodies on the side of the road,” said Jackson.

Timothy Jones, Jr. was arrested in Mississippi and later led authorities to the bodies of his five children near the Oak Hill community of Wilcox County.

In Greensboro, a seven year old boy was shot and killed after he got caught in the crossfire of a shootout between Lavares Jackson and JaPaul Williams.

“Two guys who had a feud over some female end up shooting at each other and the 7 year old got caught in the crossfire. He just happened to be outside and he got killed. They tried to air-lift him to the hospital he died on the way.”

Jackson says there were also several rape and sexual assault cases this year with minor children as the victims.
