A local animal rescue effort in Troy has taken in more than double the amount of dogs than usual in the past month. But they can’t continue what they’re doing, without more financial support.

The Troy Animal Rescue Project has taken in more than 190 dogs since the beginning of January. That amount is more than double the rescuers average.

And since every dog is vaccinated and cared for by fosters, their vet bill is now more than $8,000. That’s more than $6,000 above the usual. They’ve had to scale back their intake until they cant get enough donations to bring the vet bill down.

Tiffany Howington said, “We’ve just had so many coming in. Especially puppies you see how many we have standing around. All of my fosters are full of puppies because litters, and people dropping them off and people getting Christmas presents are realizing they can no longer keep them.”
