Quilt Project Showcases Unity in Selma Community

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  A unique project is underway in Selma designed to showcase the beauty and spirit of cooperation and unity in the Selma community.

The Selma community is coming together to make a Unity Quilt. Groups or individual can make their own square for the quilt. Organizers say the quilt symbolizes the community’s on-going quest for unity.

“I think a quilt is a great symbol of unity and healing,” said Jamie Alvey. “You’re bringing people together to make something beautiful. You are working together for something good.”

The Unity Quilt will be carried in the Unity March across the Edmund Pettus Bridge into Selma on March 1st.
