The heat advisory that was in effect through Sunday evening for central Alabama now continues through Tuesday evening. Heat indices may exceed 105° Monday and Tuesday afternoon.
Afternoon heat becomes more intense Sunday through Tuesday
Sunday’s heat looks more intense than Saturday, with high temperatures in the mid 90s in most locations. Meanwhile, heat indices peak near 105° across our area.
Scattered storms Friday and Saturday, drier and hotter Sunday
Showers and storms were already scattered across southwest Alabama Friday morning. They remain scattered about during the afternoon, and may translate east of I-65 to include locations that were mainly dry through midday.
Better rain chances Thursday through Saturday, still hot and humid
Temperatures likely warm into the low 90s, with heat indices near 100° Thursday. Showers and storms become scattered about during the afternoon, dropping temperatures in many locations through the evening.
Still hot and humid, but better rain chances for the rest of the week
Rain chances look higher again for the rest of the week. However, rain coverage was low through midday Wednesday, with just isolated showers or storms drifting south on either side of highway 43.
More mid-90° heat this week, rain chances increase Wednesday
Mid-90° heat continues this week. Meanwhile, rain chances stay low, but not zero, Monday and Tuesday. Afternoon shower and storm coverage increases Wednesday.
