Pleasant weather continues into the start of this week. Monday and Tuesday look mostly sunny and rain-free. Temperatures range from the mid to upper 80s each afternoon.
Another line of showers and storms moved through our area during the evening. A few of these storms were briefly strong to severe, capable of strong wind gusts and small to large hail.
Additional storms develop and move through our area late Friday night into Saturday morning. A few storms could be severe.
Some storms may become strong to severe Friday. The storm prediction center places a slight (level 2/5) severe risk across southwest Alabama Friday and Friday night.
Wednesday and Thursday look pleasant across central and south Alabama. Each day remains rain-free, with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Temperatures peak in the mid 80s Wednesday afternoon, with a brisk west wind.
Rain and storms may come through in multiple rounds Monday through Tuesday. Rain amounts could be heavy, with area rain totals of 2-4″. Some storms may be strong to severe.
Mother’s Day remains mainly dry, though some clouds fill the sky during the day. Temperatures remain warm, with highs in the low to mid 80s.
The rest of Friday looks mainly dry, with sunshine during the afternoon. Temperatures warm into the low and mid 80s. Humidity decreases as winds turn to the northwest.
An organized cluster of storms, or Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) may develop to our west Thursday evening. It may race west to east across our area Thursday night. Damaging wind gusts could be more common and widespread due to these storms.
