Trending Nicer For Independence Day Weekend

Friday was a downright washout across central Alabama, with a widespread shield of showers and storms forming during the afternoon. Fortunately, the rain is tapering off near and north of highway 80/Interstate 85 Friday evening.

Rain Likely Friday, But A Drier Holiday Weekend

Some sun, some clouds, and some rain with plenty of heat and humidity Thursday. As routine as could be for a summer day in our area. Isolated to scattered showers still dot the radar late this afternoon. They may continue through a good part of the evening, though wind down in coverage after sunset.

Higher Rain Chances Through Friday

It was a sunnier start than Tuesday morning for most in central and south Alabama. However, clouds increased through midday, though the morning was mainly rain-free. That changes Wednesday afternoon, with a higher coverage of daytime showers and storms compared to Tuesday.

Less Rain Monday, But Increasing Rain Chances This Week

Monday started on a sunny note after Sunday’s showers and storms. However, clouds increased through midday, though there weren’t any showers and storms up to that point. While we could see stray to isolated showers and storms Monday afternoon, more locations stay dry rather than get wet.

Routine Summertime Weekend Weather

It was a hot but less humid Friday across central and south Alabama. Afternoon temperatures peaked in the upper 80s to low 90s, but dew point temperatures were in the mid 60s rather than the low 70s of Thursday. As a result, there wasn’t much of a heat index factor during the afternoon.

Typical Summertime Weather Through The Weekend

Depending on your location, Thursday might have started on an overcast or at least mostly cloudy note. Despite the rather widespread clouds, Thursday morning was virtually rain-free. However, isolated to scattered showers and storms are probable for the afternoon.

High Rain Chances Through Tuesday

While we waved goodbye to Claudette over the weekend, we haven’t waved goodbye to clouds, showers and storms. The abundant sunshine of Sunday afternoon was brief, with widespread clouds and scattered showers and storms in the forecast Monday afternoon.

Rain, Wind, And Possibly Brief Tornadoes Saturday

Friday started with some sunshine, but the day closes with an overcast sky. Scattered showers and storms also drifted south to north through our area during the afternoon. These were associated with one of the outer feeder bands of potential tropical cyclone three.

Sunshine And Dry Now; Tropical Impacts This Weekend

Thursday afternoon features nice weather by mid-June standards. Although afternoon temperatures likely peak in the low 90s, humidity remains low enough that the heat index or “feels-like” temperature remains near or just below the actual air temperature.
