Normalcy inches back to NFL with draft room gatherings OK’d

Some semblance of normalcy will return to the NFL next month when teams will be allowed to gather in their draft rooms for the three-day draft of college talent. Teams were prohibited from gathering last year because of the coronavirus pandemic and had to meet over videoconference from their homes. That setup produced some entertainment value and this year the NFL will keep cameras on general managers and head coaches in the draft rooms to try to maintain that value.

Broncos’ new GM has his work cut out for him in first year

There is no shortage of needs facing new Denver Broncos GM George Paton. Let’s start with defense. The Broncos’ biggest needs are in the secondary. But an upgrade is needed at linebacker and along an aging front line. Although John Elway left Paton stocked on offense with lots of talented tight ends, wide receivers and linemen, there’s a big question mark about quarterback Drew Lock. He had a shaky second season and that means the Broncos will be in the market for a veteran QB to mentor and push Lock.
