Renascence Halfway House Turns 10 years old

It was a night to gather together to celebrate a decade of helping local incarcerated men get back on their feet.

“These gentlemen come to us on parole or probation. Many of our people who leave incarceration have no place to go. They don’t have a viable program to step into. They are ill equipped. They aren’t any physically available things to do what they need to do. Job skills are marginal. So we take these people and in a six month to year program, help them in a structured way get back to entering society,” said Board President Nelson Smith.

The Renascence House provides access to healthcare, counseling, and jobs.
They want to help the men reclaim their lives, rebuild their lives, and reintegrate into the community.
The house is usually filled with 12 former inmates looking to go back into society as better men. While they are there, they are responsible for chores, going to recovery meetings, and finding or holding some kind of job.
One of those men is Jason Easterling, who has been in the program for four and a half months now and very thankful for it.

“They actually work with Koch Foods and I have a job now and I will be able to keep whenever I get out. And they help me get housing and everything. It’s not just something they say, they really do help you in ways that are practical, in ways that can help,” said Easterling.
