ACTION 8 WEATHER AUTHORITY: Damaging wind, tornado, hail risk through Thursday morning

Tornado Watch Until 11pm. Primary hazards include a few tornadoes with a couple intense tornadoes possible, scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph, and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible. Be aware as our weather conditions evolve through Wednesday night.

ACTION 8 WEATHER AUTHORITY (WAKA) – Prepare for the possibility of severe storms Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning across central and south Alabama.

The risk level runs from MARGINAL (level 1/5) up to ENHANCED (level 3/5). The greatest severe weather risk lies across the northwest half of our area. However, all of us are within a risk area for severe storms through 7AM Thursday, so be aware as our weather conditions evolve through Wednesday night.

Hazards include tornadoes, damaging wind gusts up to 60mph, and hail up to quarter size.

Heavy thunderstorms may also produce several inches of rain in our area. Flooding could occur, especially in poor drainage and low-lying areas. A flood watch continues until Thursday morning for central Alabama.
