It’s that time when we honor a great teacher for their work in the classroom. Our Golden Apple Award this week takes us to Valley Grande Elementary school in Dallas County.

Pamela Rhodes teaches Science and Social Sudies for fifth graders. She started teaching 19 years ago, because she says she has a passion for the classroom.

Rhodes uses hands-on activities, incorporating baking, crafts and interactive projects into her daily class routine. She says she’s seen the difference it makes in her students.

“It motivates them because after they’ve learned the information and they can recall the information to me, they can use that information and create things with their mind,” Rhodes said.

To nominate a teacher for the Golden Apple Award, fill out the form on the website and send it in. We’d love to hear who you think should be out next Golden Apple Award winner.
