MONTGOMERY, AL — Former Florida State basketball player and current Faulkner Grad Assistant Courtney Ward is holding a basketball camp at Jeff Davis High School this week.

The camp will help kids learn the fundamentals of basketball, but also how important qualities like leadership are to life goals.

“I grew up playing basketball all of my life,” said Ward. “I really knew the importance of it once I became a student-athlete at Florida State. It’s my responsibility to let them know how important school is first because without their education, there are no athletics at all.”

Ward led the Jeff Davis basketball team to the 2006 state championship. She also set numeros single season and career marks while at Florida State.

She finished her Seminole career with 1.199 points, becoming just the 24th player in Florida State history to score more than 1,000 points.
