By: Christopher Glennon ATLANTA, GA— Chase Smartt from Charles Henderson high school got drafted Wednesday in the 35th round of Major League Baseball’s draft by the Atlanta Braves. Smartt is the second person drafted from an Alabama high school. The first one being Will Stewart from Hazel Green and selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 20th round. Smartt is a deaf catcher, who was named the Class 5A Hitter and Player of the Year for the 2015 season by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and was selected for AL.com’s Super All-State Baseball Team. He batted .523 with seven homers, 50 RBIs and 54 runs in his senior year.
