The Montgomery County Task for on Domestic Violence held a forum Thursday night for the five Montgomery mayoral candidates.

Candidates were asked seven questions by moderator and former District Attorney Ellen Brooks. They discussed everything from funding for domestic violence centers to training for police officers.

The candidates say they would rely heavily on the resources and experts in the community for advice on the best way to help the victims.

They also wanted to make the Family Justice Center a priority with more funding.

Police officers are required to take 4 hours of training for domestic violence calls.

They are getting double that amount in Montgomery right now.

Some people who attended the forum say they appreciate the demeanor the candidates had towards the topic.

“The seemed to be less aggressive as they were in the past forums,” said Pamela Jackson.

Still, others say the candidates don’t seem to be doing enough for the victims.

“We need to feed people. Care for people. House people. We need to be a godly city. If we are not a godly city, then we will fail,” said Ken Devereaux.
