Easter egg hunts bring hundreds of children to parks across the Capitol City

Hundreds of children hopped over to Blount Cultural Park Saturday for an egg-citing Easter Eggstravaganza.  The fun-filled day included activities for the whole family, including a dj playing music, lots of bounce houses, and yard games like giant Legos and Connect Four. There were also picture perfect moments with the Easter bunny, delicious food trucks, and of course egg hunts. Thousands of eggs were scattered across the park for kiddos to scoop up, and some even found special gold eggs with unique prizes inside. Organizers say it was a chance to bring the community together in a happy way.

Kenyah Taylor is the Events Coordinator for the City of Montgomery and says, “I’m a mom so I know how exciting Easter can be, so just to see all the kids out here with their baskets lining up outside in the grass ready to just go full force and hunt some eggs– there is no greater feeling. For us to have these types of events for kids because a lot of people think Montgomery is a city where not much happens, so to be able to create those experiences for them and for them to have something to do to be able to get out of the house have fun and good fun, safe fun – it’s super important.” The Eggstravaganza was sponsored by the City of Montgomery.

The egg hunting fun continued out at AUM as The Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office hosted their Easter egg hunt. Hundreds of children ages one to eleven waited patiently until they heard go, and then they grabbed their baskets and ran to collect as many eggs as they could. This annual tradition has been a favorite for kids in Montgomery County. There were also special prizes of big, pre-made Easter baskets, and even bikes were given away. The Easter bunny also hopped in to take pictures with people of all ages.
