Rain, wind, tornado risk due to Francine through Thursday evening
Rain, brisk winds, and a low risk for a few tornadoes continues Thursday afternoon and evening. A couple bands of showers move through the west and central parts of Alabama during the afternoon. They may “train” over the same areas, leading to locally heavy rain in some locations, but not much rain in others. Area storm total rain amounts through Friday may range from 2-4″ across our area.
Otherwise, wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph may continue through Thursday afternoon. We may get a lull in rain/storm activity overnight, with the brief tornado risk winding down at the end of the evening. The sky remains cloudy Thursday night, with wind speeds decreasing and lows in the low 70s. Showers and storms become scattered about throughout Friday.
A few storms may become marginally severe Friday afternoon or evening, capable of a brief tornado or strong wind gust. Some clouds and some showers or storms linger this weekend, but rain coverage looks lower. High temperatures may be in the upper 80s Saturday and Sunday. Some rain or storms linger into early next week, but rain coverage likely decreases Wednesday and Thursday.
