Coalition accuses Tallassee company of unfair treatment of employees
A statewide coalition is accusing a Tallassee company of unfair treatment of its employees.
The group called “Good Neighbors Alabama” claims that employees at Neptune Technology Group are working up to 75 hours a week, has wage disparities between the male and female employees, and there has been unfair treatment reported by workers.
Neptune Technology Group is a technology company that serves more than 4,000 water utilities across the country.
The group is encouraging the company to negotiate a Community Benefits Agreement.
“We’re asking the community of Tallassee to join us especially because today’s gesture of good faith by Neptune to receive us at that door,” said Luis Robledo, Senior Organizer with Jobs to Move America. “We have delivered a letter, they have received us and they have agreed to begin conversations with Good Neighbors Alabama.”
Action 8 News reached out to Neptune Technology Group about the accusations.
A company spokesperson released the following statement:
“Neptune takes allegations of unsafe working conditions, work-life balance concerns, and unfair treatment very seriously. We have processes and mechanisms in place to address these issues and strive to be a premier employer in the region. We are committed to ensuring our employees are safe at work, treated fairly, and have time to enjoy their families outside of work.”
The company spokesperson tells us that Good Neighbors Alabama works with labor unions and has been trying to organize Neptune’s employees for close to two years.
