Golf tournament helps Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches
A golf tournament is helping the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches statewide.
The Children’s Charity Golf Classic was hosted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office today at Arrowhead Country Club. It has been a tradition for 20 years.
It raises money for the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, which helps at-risk children and youth. Its mission is to provide the youth with an “atmosphere where they may grow spiritually and physically into productive, responsible and happy adults.”
“It tells me that the people in Alabama are servants to people that are less fortunate,” Michael Smith, the CEO of the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, told Action 8 News. “All these folks — I said this when we started — all these folks are serving our young people because we could not do it without the support of these folks here today.”
The tournament featured 144 golfers. All of the money raised stays in the state to benefit the four ranches which are in Baldwin, Tallapoosa, Saint Claire and Colbert counties.
