Cool nights, warm days, mainly dry, plenty of sunshine this week
Much-needed rain moved across central and south Alabama early Sunday morning. Many locations picked up an inch or more of rain. That may leave a small dent in the ongoing drought in our area, but not eliminate it completely. By early Sunday afternoon, sunshine returned for all as a cold front pushed through. Sunday night looks clear and much cooler, with lows in the mid to upper 40s.
Monday looks sunny with high temperatures near 80°. Monday night lows fall into the 40s again. A second cold front arrives Tuesday. Rain looks unlikely from this front, with just a slight increase in clouds Tuesday afternoon and high temperatures in the low 80s. Tuesday night lows fall into the 40s again behind the front. Wednesday looks mainly sunny with highs in the 70s. Clouds may increase a bit Thursday and Friday, but both days look dry.
More rain appears possible next weekend, though longer range models have shown little consistency in how exactly that play out for Saturday and Sunday. Showers may be isolated to scattered at best both days. Otherwise, each day could be partly to mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the upper 70s, and lows in the 50s.
