Andre Harrison will not be on the ballot in the March 1 republican primary. A circuit court judge made the ruling this afternoon citing Harrison did not file the required paperwork to have his name listed.

The law requires a certificate of administration and supervision signed by the state superintendent to be filed on behalf of the candidate with the probate judge’s office. According to the petition, Harrison did not submit the required paperwork until after the deadline.

In a video release on his Facebook page, Harrison says he plans to run as an independent in the general election.

Among his statements about today’s ruling:

“It’s disappointing that a Chilton County Judge gave an Autauga County resident a free pass in the Elmore County Republican Primary. It’s a slap in the face to voter. I will not appeal or waste taxpayer resources fixing dirty politics.

“I will now run as a conservative Independent and submit the required signatures by March 1st to be on the ballot in the November general election.
“Thank you to all my thousands of supporters! Now we have a serious fight on our hands, and I will need your time and your prayers over the coming months.”
