One hundred and nineteen police officers were killed in the line of duty this year across the country, that’s more than one hundred families grieving loved ones this holiday. One group in Montgomery wants to show their support this holiday season.
The And Justice for All non-profit held a ceremony to honor more than 20 officers in Montgomery who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Cubie Ray Hayes and other members of the community showed their appreciation by placing more than 20 wreaths outside of the King Hill Community Center. The ceremony then moved to the memorial for Keith Houts- a Montgomery police officer shot and killed while on a traffic stop in 2006.
Cubie Ray Hayes, Director And, Justice for All said, “Even though we may have had some circumstances in some other states, it’s no reflection on the city of Montgomery. We have a peaceful Montgomery police department, we get along in harmony. And we just want to do something nice, this is the season to give. And we are giving and sharing and caring.”
This was the tenth annual wreath laying ceremony.
