CAMPAIGN 2026: Republican candidate for governor files lawsuit against Tuberville, Alabama GOP

CAMPAIGN 2026: A Republican candidate for governor has filed a lawsuit against fellow candidate Tommy Tuberville and the state Republican Party.

Candidate Ken McFeeters is once again demanding that Tuberville prove that he meets the residency requirements to serve as governor.  Earlier this year, McFeeters callled on the state Republican party to investigate, but it declined to pursue his complaint.

Now he’s turned to the Covington County Circuit Court, asking for an emergency trial by jury to determine if Tuberville has lived in Alabama long enough to run.

“The constitution says you must live in Alabama for seven years up until the election, and he hasn’t,” McFeeters said at a news conference today in Montgomery. “We’re going to prove that in court.”

McFeeters is an insurance agent in the Birmingham area and is using a firm called God’s Law Team as his counsel.

A campaign spokesperson for Sen. Tommy Tuberville released this statement to Action 8 News:

“Ken McFeeters is desperately trying to save his joke of a campaign. Coach Tuberville has lived in Auburn since 2019. When he isn’t representing Alabama in the U.S. Senate, he’s back home in Auburn with his wife Suzanne.”

The primaries are May 19.
