CAMPAIGN 2026: Steve Marshall concedes defeat in GOP U.S. Senate primary
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Steve Marshall has conceded in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, with unofficial results showing him placing third.
Marshall issued this statement:
“Last night concluded months of a hard fought campaign that fell just short. I am immensely grateful to my wife, Tammy, our family, our volunteers, the campaign staff, and all of the voters across the state who put their faith in me to be Alabama’s next U.S. Senator. It was truly an honor to have your backing.
“Although I’m disappointed in the outcome, I’m proud of what this campaign stood for: strong Christian values and true conservative principles. I look forward to continuing my work as Attorney General, building on my proven track record and delivering real wins for the people of Alabama.”
Marshall, who is Alabama’s attorney general, will finish his term, which will end in January.
Meanwhile, the unofficial results show that the Republican primary for U.S. Senate will be heading to a June 16 runoff, with Barry Moore getting 39% of the vote in the primary and Jared Hudson 26%.
