Hot, humid, low rain chances this week; Weekend rain chance rises
Tuesday morning was partly to mostly cloudy and mainly dry across central and south Alabama. However, isolated showers or storms formed in far southeast Alabama around midday. That may be the part of the state with the best chance for a shower or storm for the rest of the day. Elsewhere, sunshine warms temperatures into the low 90s, but humidity may result in heat index values in the mid or upper 90s.
Showers or storms fade away Tuesday evening. The sky becomes mostly clear Tuesday night, with lows in the low 70s. Wednesday looks partly to mostly sunny outside of isolated to widely scattered showers and storms that form during the afternoon with highs in the low 90s. Thursday and Friday look drier, with just stray to isolated showers or storms, mainly during the afternoon and evening. Otherwise, both days look partly cloudy and hot with highs in the low 90s.
High temperatures remain in the low 90s Saturday and Sunday. However, rain chances rise this weekend, with showers and storms becoming at least widely scattered each afternoon and evening. Chances for rain may increase further next week, as longer-range models suggest a pair of cold front at least approaching Alabama from the northwest. They may provide a focus for scattered showers and storms Monday through Thursday, keeping temperatures a bit cooler.
