A lot of Alabamians are wearing red today as part the American Heart Association’s program to raise awareness about heart disease and women. The American Heart Association says one in three women die from heart disease every year. It hopes today’s national wear red day will make women think twice about their health. Doctors say Heart Disease can be prevented by eating healthy, monitoring blood pressure, and cholesterol levels.

Baptist South Hospital offers ways to monitor cholesterol and blood pressure levels. There’s an event next weekend offering 20-dollar heart screenings. For more information go to http://www.baptistfirst.org/
