The school was deemed safe and opened back up a couple hours later.
Authorities say it was all because of threats made over social media and text messages.

Wetumpka Police, Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, and Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene.
Superintendent Andre Harrison was inside the school during the lockdown and kept parents up to date.
Meanwhile parents, who gathered outside the school, say they could breathe a sigh of relief.

“Of course, you are going to be nervous. That’s your child. But I do know that the Wetumpka Police Department is doing everything they can. They have it very protected and the superintendent has done an awesome job keeping us informed, so I can’t complain one bit on how they are handling the situation,” said parent Nicole Johnston.
We’re told students were safe the whole time inside the school and were able to carry on with normal activities.
The lockdown was lifted Friday afternoon and students were able to go home.
No word yet on any charges.
