Union Station in downtown Montgomery was filled with furniture art Thursday evening as it was the 9th annual Chairs for Children event.
Thirty-four local artists painted the chairs to be auctioned off.
Organizers say the chairs are a representation of Child Protect.

“This is just a reminder that with children and chairs that maybe you can love a child and sit and read to them and remember what we do at Child Protect,” said Exec. Director Jannah Bailey.

Brantwood Children’s Home held its annual One Big Truck raffle.
Raffle tickets were sold at 100 dollars each for the chance to win a brand new F-150 pick up truck.
This year’s winner was Jerry Fielding.
This is the 27th year for the truck raffle, which is the group’s largest fundraiser of the year.
The children’s home houses 30 kids in foster care from around the state, and proceeds of the event help provide food, shelter, and clothing for those children.

“We do get funding from the state and other sources, but we have to do fundraising. We are a non-profit and the cost of taking care of 30 kids at a time is very expensive so it is one of the ways that we are able to raise funds to help us with our general operating budget,” said Exec. Director Gerald Jones.
And there was a vintage fashion show featuring hats at the Railyard Brewing Company.
Lighthouse Counseling Center held their fundraiser for a program they call
STAR (Standing Together Against Rape).

“Lighthouse Counseling provides those services for those victims. They are supported by fundraisers and grants, and this is our way to help provide funding for this very important program,” said Board Member Nina Kynard.
