ANNcampaign2016As the race for the White House draws closer to the national conventions this summer, the number of political endorsements are increasing. Recently, Governor Robert Bentley endorsed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

But do these political endorsements have as much impact on voters as they did in years past?  The rise of Trump to his party’s nomination flew against many in his own party who endorsed other candidates.

On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders has surged to several victories off the support of young voters. Many voters we spoke with in Montgomery say they don’t always trust the motivations behind the political establishment when it comes to endorsements.  They say with so much information at their fingertips nowadays, they can make up their own mind without outside influence.

However, other voters say they simply don’t follow politics closely and if they trust the person who is giving the endorsement, then it will matter more to them when deciding who to vote for.
