Holtville High Sends 5 Students to Hospital after Pill Scare

Authorities say five students at a central Alabama high school had to be taken to a hospital after ingesting medication they got another student.

Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin is quoted saying the students from Holtville High School took anti-seizure pills that were given to them by a 16-year-old friend.

The sheriff says the students suffered symptoms including headaches and nausea, and superintendent Andre Harrison says that were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The sheriff says the 16-year-old who provided the pills was taken into custody.

Officials aren’t releasing the names of any of the students who were involved.
