Rep. Martha Roby Talks Trump After Election

Trump’s words to Billy Bush in a 2005 interview words set off a firestorm across the nation as Republicans worked to distance themselves from their party nominee.

That included Congresswoman Martha Roby who back in October said in a statement “Donald Trump’s behavior makes him unacceptable as a candidate for president, and I won’t vote for him.”

But now that Trump has won the election, Roby says it’s time to work together.

“I said my piece about Trump during the campaign and now it’s president elect trump. I look forward to moving forward. We have an opportunity, a historic opportunity, certainly in my time in congress, having the responsibility of the white house, the majority of the house of representatives, and the majority in the senate. It’s time we all come together,” said Rep. Roby.

The congresswoman wouldn’t say if she thinks there could be any negative repercussions from a Trump White House.

But she says there’s a lot of work for Republicans to accomplish.

“We have a lot of problems we need to solve on behalf of the American people. We can talk about our military, the VA, Obamacare, tax reform, go down the list, trade, immigration, all these things are important to the american people. We heard it loud and clear,” said Roby.

She says that message is Americans want to see change.

That’s something her colleagues want to see as well.

“There’s a lot of excitement in Washington. I’ve only been there for a short amount of time after the election then we came home.”
