The first major rain in months is forecast for the next few days. And Montgomery County Emergency Management officials are making sure they are ready should anything severe happen.

EMA Director Christina Thornton says they have been monitoring the storms coming into Alabama. The whole staff is on stand by for Monday night.
While most of the severe weather will stay to our north, Thornton says there are some potential threats for our area.

“If you start getting a large amount of rain, especially after a few weeks of no rain, those tree limbs are going to be weakened by the drought so there is a possibility for some lines down, some limbs down. Possibly even losing some small trees just from the weakness in the ground once it does start getting saturated,” said Thornton.
