Salvation Army Magical Christmas Toy Drive a Success

It was a busy day as we, at Alabama News Network, cleaned out our Magical Toy Vault.
Piles and piles of toys stacked high were all loaded up.

“I’m overwhelmed. To see all these toys, it’s overwhelming. I’m ecstatic,” said Major Walter Strong with the Salvation Army.

Folks from the Salvation Army along with our great partners, United Food and Fuel, Bluewater Broadcasting, Capital Hyundai, and McDonald’s helped us load up the toys and ship them to the Salvation Army. A big ‘thank you’ to  “A Mini Flex Storage” for hauling the toys from our toy vault.

Plus, McDonald’s had another surprise. They presented the Salvation Army with a check for one thousand dollars.
The money will go towards the toy drive mission of helping a child who may not have any toys to open up Christmas morning.

We also got wonderful help from students at Montgomery’s McKee Middle School. The 6th, 7th and 8th graders collected toys and money to donate.  Students say they enjoy helping those less fortunate.

Student Tyrek Bozeman says, “Cause some people don’t have a lot of toys like we have. So we have to do the best you can to help people out.”

“Although they may face obstacles, they decided to give to others. And in giving to others you give back to yourself,” said principal Patrick Nelson.

Of course, we couldn’t do it with out all of you who purchased a toy for a child in need and dropped it at one of our locations.
